Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has called on Kenyan teachers who have secured positions in various schools across the United States to represent their homeland with pride and dedication.

Speaking at a send-off ceremony on July 29, 2024, Mudavadi addressed over 60 teachers, emphasizing the significant role they play as ambassadors of Kenya’s values and aspirations.

“Your achievements in the international arena will not only benefit you personally but will also elevate the standing of Kenyan education worldwide.”

Mudavadi highlighted the broader impact of their success, assuring the teachers, along with other Kenyans in the diaspora, of the government’s commitment to safeguarding their rights and welfare while they work abroad.

The Prime CS reminded the cohort of the importance of discipline, focus, and hard work noting that Kenyans have earned a stellar reputation globally due to their reliability, commitment, and competence in various sectors.

“Comparatively, there is an inclination to have Kenyans as the favourites, and we need to consolidate this good gesture when we get opportunities to work outside our country,” Mudavadi Stated.

Mudavadi also spoke about the government’s efforts under the Bottom-up Economic and Transformation Agenda, which aims to expand opportunities for quality employment both locally and internationally, particularly for the youth. He urged the teachers to validate the government’s commitment by excelling in their new roles.

However, Mudavadi cautioned the teachers about the importance of adhering to the laws and norms of their host country.

“As you go out, remember to appreciate the laws of the foreign country. It is very important to understand that immediately you land on the soil of another country, you are totally under a new and different jurisdiction. You must therefore follow and stick to the new norm,” he added.

The Prime CS expressed pride in the teachers, noting that each member of the cohort stands as a testament to the unyielding spirit of the Kenyan people.

“As you fly out and leave Kenya behind, remember we are particularly proud of each one of you and confident in the significant contributions you will make, from advancing teaching methodologies to creating invaluable avenues for cultural exchange and networking,” Mudavadi reiterated.

Mudavadi’s words resonated with the teachers as they prepared to embark on their journey, carrying the hopes and aspirations of their country with them. The ceremony concluded with optimism and national pride as the teachers left for the United States on Monday night.

With their new roles, these teachers are set to enhance Kenya’s global reputation in education and contribute to a growing network of skilled and respected Kenyan professionals worldwide.
