Mumias Boda Boda Operators Protest Against Mudavadi

A group of boda-boda riders on Tuesday embarrassed Amani National Congres (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi after he failed to pay their debt.

The agitated riders in Mumias East revealed that they had been hired by ANC to escort Mudavadi’s convoy to his rallies held two weeks ago in Kakamega County. According to the motorists, they were promised Sh100,000 but after Mudavadi’s event, the agreement was not honoured.

“We entered into an agreement with organiser David Wamatsi that we would be paid Sh500 each after the rally.”

“We moved from Nyaporo, Isongo, Malaha, Shikulu to Kamashia and back to Shianda but the ANC members went without honouring our contract,”Peter Osundwa, the bodaboda association treasurer reported.

The infuriated riders blocked the Kakamega-Mumias road while others torched portraits of Mudavadi questioning his leadership credentials.

“If they cannot manage to pay this small number of motorcycle operators, how will they manage to run the country with billions of shillings?” Osundwa, one of the boda-boda operators posed.

The group’s spokesperson Mr George Were threatened to rally the riders to camp outside the home of Wamatsi and Mudavadi until they paid them for their services.

Mudavadi has been on a renewed drive to popularise his political outfit ahead of the 2017 General Election.

The ANC leader hinted that he could for a ‘super alliance’ with ODM leader Raila Odinga to ensure that they send the ruling party home.
