Munya threatened to dissolve coffee societies which fail to facilitated farmers access cherry fund

Officials of coffee societies have been given an ultimatum of two weeks to sign farmers’ loan forms which will enable them access Cherry Advance Revolving Fund.

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has warned that societies which will fail to support farmers to access the funds risk to be dissolved.

Munya addressing coffee farmers at Ihura stadium in Murang’a on Wednesday divulged that officials of some societies have been frustrating the process of issuing cherry advance revolving fund to farmers.

The Coffee cartels, Munya said, are misleading farmers not to deliver their coffee to New Kenya Planters Cooperative Union (KPCU).

He expressed confidence that the government will streamline the coffee sub-sector and remove cartels who have hindered farmers from getting better prices for their coffee.
