MURANG’A IN NEED OF MORE COVID-19 VACCINE DOSES

The Murang’a county government has appealed for more covid-19 vaccines as demand for the jab surges.

The county executive member for health and sanitation Mr. Joseph Mbai has said the doses of AstraZeneca vaccine which were given by the ministry of health have been exhausted.

Mbai on Thursday said that the county received a total of 9, 500 doses of the vaccine but by March 31 the stock had run out.

He explained that a large number of locals are seeking for the vaccine urging the ministry of health to supply more doses.

Administration of the jab, the CEC said is being done in selected medical facilities across the county.

Meanwhile Mbai refuted claims that some medical officers are charging for the vaccine saying the exercise is well supervised and the jab is being administered free of charge.

Mbai further warned residents who are flouting regulations aimed to contain the spread of the virus.

He observed that in shopping centers, residents are spotted without wearing masks saying the county administration will partner with security officers to arrest those flouting the regulations.
