Why Murang’a man ‘trekked’ to Nairobi

A man from Murang’a county has surprised many for his planned trekking all the way to Nairobi in protest for allegedly police assault.

The 50-year-old Morris Kiio plans to cover at least 100 kilometers that separate Murang’a with Nairobi as he protests against police brutality.

Kiio left his home at Kambiti, Maragua in Murang’a County this Friday, October 21 morning and vowed to keep his word, as he walks to Nairobi in an attempt to meet  Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinett.

According to Kiio, all hell broke lose when he caution his father from converting his Mango trees to charcoal, an incident that caused domestic row, leading to a case being filed against him by his own father at Administration Police post.

Kiio notes that, it is at this point that the police assaulted him and his moves to seek justice have been thwarted by  factors unknown to him, and now is only hope remains on Boinett.

With attires printed “I want Justcice”, Kiio headed to Nairobi and he says that after reporting the case at Kambiti DO’s Office and later to Makuyu Police Station nothing has been done on the matter.
