Hundreds of Muslim faithful gathered at Jaffer Islamic Centre in Mombasa County to celebrate maw lid-a religious festival that marks the birth of Prophet Mohamed.
Maw lid is an Islamic religious festival that is celebrated on the third month of the Muslim calendar referred to as the Rabi Al-Awwal, literally translating to the “birth of the prophet”.
Speaking during the celebrations, Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) coast region chairman Muhdhar Khitamy Sharif urged Islamic countries in the world to follow the teachings of the holy book as a way of bringing peace and unity in their countries.
