Mr. Muthaura has stepped down voluntarily, in line with recommendations by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) where board members retire at 70 years.
Britam said in a statement that the resignation took effect as from the 23rd of August 24, 2017. “Mr Muthaura has retired voluntarily having attained the age of 70 years in line with best corporate governance practice,” they added, “The board is very grateful for Ambassador Muthaura for his great leadership and immense contribution to the company during his directorship. The board congratulates Mr Hollas on his appointment.”
Last year, the regulator published regulations recommending that board members relinquish once they are 70 years of age, but shareholders could vote them back during an annual general meeting.
