Barely two days after County assemblies gave a node for the constitutional amendment Bill 2020 , Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader and presidential aspirant Dr. Alfred Mutua has hit the ground running popularizing the initiative urging those opposed to the BBI Bill to stop misleading Kenyans.
Mutua whose county was the 21st to pass the bill referred to those who were opposed to the initiative as prophets of doom.
Speaking during a development tour of Mwala sub county, Mutua said the constitution is not being replaced as sections of leaders have told citizens. He said the only thing that is happening in regards to amending the 2010 constitution is to improve it.
The Machakos county boss further said no new positions will be created. He said the total number of Cabinet members will remain the same.
Dr. Mutua added that the new constitution will increase funds devolved to counties to improve welfare of citizens.
He urged the remaining counties to pass the Bill so that it can be forwarded to Wananchi for voting.
The National BBI steering committee has announced Monday next week as the official kick off of the BBI campaigns across the country.
