Inpector General(IG) of police, Hilarry Mutyambai has clarified that his office did not do away with roadblocks but only abolished the unnecessary mounting of roadsblocks used to siphon money from members of the public

The IG was speaking during his tour of Kakamega County where he officiated the opening of the Kenya Police Sacco, Kakamega branch

He started off his tour by inspecting a roadblock mounted at Ilesi along the Kakamega- Kisumu highway. A number of road users who had violated traffic rules were arrested and charged on the spot at a make shift roadside court

He strongly condemned the Kapedo attack that is suspected to have been carried out by bandits. He emphasized that they are taking measures to curb the menace that has robbed many innocent lives in the north rift region.

Mutyambai winded his visit by touring Matungu constituency to check out on the progress of the operation Interior CS Fred Matiangi mounted with an intention of rooting out suspected gang members that were terrorizing the residents
