Nairobi Based Lawyer in Defense of the New Education Curriculum

A  Nairobi based lawyer has criticized busybodies bent on abolishing the new education system, Competence Based Curriculum (CBC). Steve Mogaka who hails from West Mugirango in Nyamira county, remarked  attempts to proscribe the CBC through courts will amount to politicization of the country’s education system. Presiding over distribution of financial support by Steve Mogaka Foundation to candidates from the area  joining public universities at Viongozi Centre, the lawyer challenged the curriculum’s critics to offer their views on its improvement.

He also urged Education Ministry Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha to organize public forums on collection and collation of views on the CBC. Mogaka sensationally claimed National Government Constituency Development Fund was being allocated in disregard to demographic statistics in constituencies. According to the lawyer, ”Needy children in some constituencies received inadequate allocations when others had excess  money that  lay idle. and his tended to go against the 100% transition policy,” he claimed.

The lawyer petitioned EACC to investigate on bursaries in North Mugirango constituency claiming the funds’ distribution from the little amount received was skewed. Mogaka recommended reforms in the education sector paving way for university students to benefit from government financial support to carter for personal effects and allowances as was the case before. During the occasion, close to 100 candidates received the  financial assistance.
