Nairobi Governor Sakaja Vows To Stay Focused Amidst Impeachment Rumours

By Ronny Thiong’o

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja recently addressed rumours that have made rounds on social media about a possible impeachment, firmly dismissing them as nothing but baseless distractions.

During the launch of a “Dishi na County” project in Umoja, he went on to emphasize that his team remains steadfast in its mission to deliver on the promises made to the people of Nairobi.

While showcasing the progress his administration has made, Sakaja pointed out that 17 kitchens have been successfully launched across 17 sub-counties.

He made it abundantly clear that his primary aim is on the development of Nairobi and that he won’t allow unfounded rumours to sidetrack him.

“We will not be distracted by gossipers as our priority is to work for our people, not to engage in gossip,” he said, reinforcing his commitment to the city’s growth.

Amidst the political banter, Sakaja dispelled reports that he had been removed from President William Ruto’s jet heading to China. He stated that he was never scheduled to be on that trip, as his agenda was focused on local project launches.

“I was meant to be in Umoja today, not in China,” he remarked thus debunking those rumours.

Despite being a minority in the county assembly, Governor Sakaja praised the ongoing cooperation between President Ruto and Raila Odinga, expressing his support for a national government that embraces inclusivity.

He went on to highlight the successes his administration shared by working with the opposition, proving most of the cynical people wrong.

Several Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), including Umoja MCA Mark Ronaldo and Korogocho MCA Absalom Odhiambo, backed Governor Sakaja’s stance.

“We will not impeach our Governor,” Odhiambo stated, cementing the support the MCAs’ have for Sakaja’s leadership.

Despite the ongoing media speculation, Governor Sakaja has chosen to remain steadfast in the pursuit of his administration’s goals.
