Naivasha Detectives Dismantle Notorious Phone Theft Syndicate

In a major breakthrough against mobile phone theft in Naivasha, detectives have apprehended 33-year-old Peter Mburu, believed to be a key player in a sophisticated phone theft syndicate.

Acting on credible intelligence, a team of officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) raided a shop located in the Sera Centre Building within Naivasha town.

The suspect was found in the act, surrounded by a trove of suspected stolen mobile phones.

“Naivasha detectives have apprehended 33-year-old Peter Mburu, a notorious figure in the illegal trade of stolen mobile phones,” confirmed the DCI.

A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of 27 assorted mobile phones among other materials  evidence pointing to an elaborate operation of erasing data and reselling stolen devices

“A search of the premises led to the recovery of one HP laptop, 27 assorted mobile phones, and a mobile phone flashing kit, tools that reveal the extent of his operation,” stated the DCI.

Mburu is currently held at the Naivasha Police Station as detectives finalize investigations.

He is expected to be arraigned in court to face charges related to possession of stolen property and operating an illegal phone-flashing business.
