A mechanic in Narok town died on the spot after a tire he was repairing burst and threw him into the air before he landed back on his head.
The rare incident that left Narok traders shocked saw the young man’s head split into pieces and he died on the spot.
Narok Central Sub County Police Commander John Momanyi confirmed the incident, asking mechanics to put on protective gear like helmets to prevent such an occurrence in the future.
“Unfortunately, he put too much pressure on the tyre making it burst and the impact threw the man into the air. It is so sad that we lost him on the spot,” he said while condoling with the family.
He said the incident occurred on Monday at Rubis Petrol Station in Narok Town where the deceased had gone to pump air to the tire he was repairing.
“Such an incident is very rare, but we have taught ourselves a lesson. Mechanics and those doing such manual jobs should always put on protective gears that can protect them when such an accident occurs,” he said.
The body of the deceased was taken to Narok County Referral Hospital Mortuary as the family prepared to bury the remains of their relative.
