Narok ODM Governor candidate Moitalel ole Kenta has rubbished tribal claims by Kenya Kwanza politicians.
Kenta who spoke at Naroosura trading center in Narok South, the Narok North legislator defended his choice of running mate saying it was not tribal-based but meant to ensure the Maasai community retain the top county leadership.
Kenta picked his fellow tribesman Mr William Oltetia an economist as his running mate irking his opponents who termed the move as signaling tribal tendency.
Kenta told off the Kenya Kwanza alliance’s running mate Rigathi Gachagua who led a campaign against him few days ago in Narok town.
“Before telling me to pick deputy from another tribe they should first tell us whether they had appointed a Maasai or any other tribe in Nyeri,Kiambu or else where. What crime have I committed by picking a Maasai as my deputy?,”posed Kenta.
The MP also hailed the move by Azimio-One Kenya Presidential candidate Raila Odinga to snub the recent Presidential debate arguing that it was not wise to debate with someone with questionable integrity.
“We are glad that our party leader Raila Odinga did not attend the debate.Attending it could have been akin to dirtifying himself,”said Mr Kenta.
Mr Kenta also hit out at his sole opponent Patrick Ntutu terming him as a project of the incumbent Governor Samuel Tunai.
“Tunai has led embezzlement of county funds and now wants to be Senator and he is now campaigning for Ntutu more than he is doing for himself,”lashed Mr Kenta.
On Tuesday while campaigning for Kenya Kwanza in Narok,Mr Gachagua asked the residents to shun divisive leaders.
Governor Tunai took a swipe at Kenta saying by picking fellow Maasai as his running mate was a justification that he was not accommodative.
