NASA leaders condemn government move to exile Miguna

National Super Alliance (Nasa) leaders have condemned the government move to deport National Resitance Movement member (NRM) Miguna Miguna to Canada.

Wiper Party vice chairman Mutula Kilonzo  has termed the ‘deportation’ as outrage, saying High Court judge Luka Kimaru had issued a court order blocking Miguna’s further prosecution until he is produced before his court.

“The news that Miguna has been deported is shocking. May the good Lord deliver us from evil,” Mr Kilonzo Jr said in a written statement.

The self-proclaimed “general” of National Resistance Movement Miguna Miguna was deported to Canada on Tuesday night.

According to Miguna’s lawyer John Khaminwa, he was put into a KLM flight departing Nairobi for Amsterdam minutes before 10pm.

His other lawyer Nelson Havi through his twitter account wondered how a Kenyan citizen can be deported from his home country!

“We are reliably informed that Miguna Miguna has been forced into a KLM flight for “deportation” to Canada. Now, how do you deport a Kenyan? This Country has been overrun by criminals,” Said Havi.

But Interior ministry has said Mr Miguna denounced his Kenyan citizenship years back and never bothered to reclaim it.

“Mr Miguna denounced his Kenyan citizenship years back, acquired Canadian citizenship and never bothered to reclaim Kenyan citizenship in the legally prescribed manner neither did he disclose that he had another country’s citizenship despite being a lawyer who should have known better,” Mr Mwenda said on Twitter.

It is not clear what law the government used to eject him from Kenya as the Constitution guarantees him citizenship since he is Kenyan by birth.

Interior Ministry will give a full statement concerning Miguna deportation today.
