In a move to enhance the governance and management of public sector remuneration, the National Assembly has approved the appointment of seven individuals to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
The newly appointed members, who bring diverse expertise and experience, will play a crucial role in guiding the commission’s efforts to ensure fair and equitable remuneration across the public sector.
New Appointments to the SRC include;
Chairperson,Mr. Sammy Chepkwony will lead the commission in setting strategic direction and overseeing its critical mandate.
Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Martin Kizito Ong’onyi, nominated by the Defence Council, Maj. Gen. Ong’onyi brings a wealth of military and administrative experience.
Mr. Mohamed Aden Abdi, representing County Governments, Mr. Abdi was nominated by the Senate, bringing a strong understanding of regional government operations.
Ms. Jane Gatakaa Njage, nominated by the Teachers Service Commission, Ms. Njage will contribute her deep insights into education sector remuneration.
Dr. Gilda Odera, as a representative of an umbrella body for employers, Dr. Odera offers valuable perspectives on employer-employee dynamics.
Dr. Geoffrey Apollo Omondi, nominated by a body representing trade unions, Dr. Omondi will advocate for fair labour practices and workers’ rights.
Mr. Leonid Ashindu, representing a joint forum of professional bodies, Mr. Ashindu brings professional expertise from various sectors to the commission.
The appointees are expected to guide the SRC in addressing key issues such as wage disparities, harmonization of salaries, and ensuring fiscal sustainability in public sector compensation.
Their collective expertise is anticipated to strengthen the commission’s role in enhancing transparency and accountability in the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
