For a decade after completing standard 8 and inheriting his brothers wife and sired two children and indulging in heavy drinking Daniel has opted to be back to class after a newly school was officially opened in Tiaty.
Tiaty secondary school has become a home of hope to many drop outs in Tiaty constituency who would otherwise be potential bandits in the vast kerio which has been on the headlines for banditry and killings in kerio.With the enrollment of 97 form ones since the school was officially opened,it has now become a mindset transformation in an area which has the highest number of illiteracy compounded by retrogressive cultures.
Illiteracy in Tiaty remains at 75% of the population,its with this that the constituency leadership has begun education transformation in bid to ensure the community run away from retrogressive cultures such as early childhood marriage,cattle rustling and female genitals mutilation.
For Daniel said he was inspired to join school after seeing all education was the key of unlocking life potentials,at the age of 25 and with two children in grade three and four said he was determined to finish his education to the highest level and his satisfaction will be when he will be called a doctor.
Daniel said lack of school fees led to him not joining form one but when Tiaty high school was constructed and opened the doors for recruitment he went and met the principal and requested to be enrolled as the life in the village had become hard to manage,he had no fees nor school uniform but through area mp who facilitated his enrollment through bursary
The school principal said the opening of the school was a new dawn to hundredths of students who would otherwise be in the village engaging in retrogressive culture of child marriage and banditry which in rife along the Kerio belt.
Tiaty MP William Kamket said he has now focused transforming his community through education .
