Ngunjiri Wambugu sues Boinnet, Nkaissery over demos

Politician and activist Ngunjiri Wambugu has sued IG Joseph Boinnet and interior CS Joseph Nkaissery over IEBC protests.

Ngunjiri, who sued on Wednesday, wants them compelled to formulate a code of conduct for conveyors of demonstrations.

That includes detailed explanations of how they intend to ensure non-participants are not adversely affected during demonstrations.

Ngunjiri wants the court to direct the state to provide a clear line of responsibility for those liable in case of loss of property and life or injury.

He said it is possible to assemble and demonstrate without infringing on another peoples rights and freedoms.

The politician who has declared interest in the Nyeri MP seat described himself as one who strongly campaigned for the constitution.

The Cord demonstrations for the forceful removal of IEBC commissioners turned violent and saw the killing of several people as riot police intervened.

Cord leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta agreed to hold talks on the matter and have each formed teams to represent them.
