Njenga Karume’s grandchild arrested over drug trafficking

Grandson to former minister Njenga Karume’s has been arrested in Nairobi in a cocaine and marijuana trafficking investigation.

Together with Lawrence Muketo Ngula and Joseph Mutua Kimeu, James was arrested in his house in Lavington in an operation led by ANU detectives.

The suspects are also said to be also operating a narcotics distribution network in Nairobi and Kampala.Several pounds of imported high-grade marijuana and sachets of hard drugs, including cocaine were recovered by detectives.

Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) head Hamisi Massa said the three would be charged in court on July 21.

Police said earlier reports indicated Mr Kihato had been importing narcotics such as Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) into the country.
