Nairobi Governor, Dr. Evans Kidero has accused Interior Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Nkeissery, of using formidable words when he said the county government cannot demand payment from the national government.
This came after Kidero claimed that the National government among other businesses owed Nairobi County Government a lot of money.
The CS responded by telling Kidero to forget about them since the national government”can’t pay, and won’t pay”, words that heathered a hot debated.
“How can the county government demand payment from the national government, which is superior to it?” posed Nkaissery.
Kidero had last week demanded a payment of Ksh62 billion from the national government, noting that the Department of Defence is the highest defaulter in payment of contributions in lieu of rates.
The Judiciary, Kenya Industrial Research and Development, Police Service and the Office of the President owe County Hall Ksh93.87 million, Ksh67 million Ksh65.6 million, and Ksh63.91 million respectively.
Kidero was speaking today during a morning show at radio Jambo when he said it was bad for the CS to utter such words because the what they owed from the government was legal and from a legal transaction.
