Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has told his boss, President William Ruto, to steer away from any discussions based on a political handshake with Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga.

The DP further said that the only discussion they should have should be on Raila’s permanent retirement from Kenyan politics.

“You should have only one discussion, to discuss his exit from politics and permanent retirement from Kenyan politics and that you have our blessings, ” Gachagua said.

Speaking during an interdenominational church service in Olentimama stadium, Narok County, Rigathi urged the president to be firm in denying Raila’s handshake and instead focus on the government, citing that Raila has disturbed the previous three regimes.

The second in command further urged Raila Odinga to stick to his role of keeping the government in check and correct them where wrong.

This comes days after Raila Odinga trashed Ruto’s presidency, citing that the Kenya Kwanza Coalition government is illegitimate.

The Azimio leader held a rally on Sunday at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi and demanded President Ruto and all his officials to resign in two weeks. He is expected to lead another rally next week in Kibra constituency.
