No mid-terms nor prayer days, Matiang’i orders.

The cabinet secretary, Fred Matiang’i has today shocked the education sector when he decided to put to stop with immediate effect the issues of mid-term and prayers during the third term in all public schools.

According to Matiang’i the banning of those activities was a strategy to help curb cheating in KCPE and KCSE.

Matiang’i has noted that it is during such occasions that student access to phones and other materials they use during exams.

Matiang’i further clarifies activities during third term destructs students and pupil.“Mass social activities in schools in 3rd term are distractive & disruptive. Let students, teachers have peaceful time to prepare 4 exams,” Matiang’i added.

At any rate, we pray for our children all the time and don’t have to hold rallies in schools in 3rd term to do the same.However, the prayer days and visitation were not completely scrapped off, instead they were shifted to second term.

“We only moved prayers and prayer rallies to second term to enable more focus on preps for exams in 3rd term” Matiang’i added.Since he assumed office Matiang’i has been paying impromptu visits in different schools.
