Nyamira County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Dr. Timothy Ombati has disbursed a consignment of medical drugs to various health facilities in Nyamira County worth Sh29 million.
The CECM said on Thursday while disbursing the drugs that their availability would be a big boost to efficient service delivery in various health facilities within the county.
“We have disbursed drugs to three main sub county hospitals which include Manga, Keroka, and Ekerenyo and we are requesting medical officers to deliver their duties honestly and ensure that the drugs do not find their way in private chemists on sale then patients are referred to go and buy,” Dr. Omabti stated.
He appealed to members of the public and Members of the County Assembly to remain vigilant and ensure that these drugs do not disappear as it has always been alleged in the recent past.
The County Assembly member chairing the health services committee Mr. Mose Mokaya warned that “any person who will be found involved in smuggling drugs from our health facilities for his personal economic gain will be ruthlessly dealt with”.
“If a health officer will be found culpable of smuggling drugs out of any of our health facilities, he will be sacked and not transferred to another facility because he/she is likely to craft another stealing mechanism because it is his habit,” Mokaya warned.
The County legislator thanked Governor Nyaribo for his tireless support and passion in prioritizing the county health sector in a bid to ensure that Nyamira residents receive the best service and be healthy.
“Healthy people will be able to undertake their daily economic chores and contribute to the economic growth of the county and country, the reason why we must ensure that our health practitioners provide the best service,” commented Mokaya
