NYAMIRA MULTIPLE BIRTHS

Multiple births  held with owe and joy in the local community  were turning out to be a source of misery to most families.

The babies usually ranging from twins to quintuplets  placed a heavy economic burden on the families most of whom were ill-prepared to  adequately care for them.

One family from Memisi village,Borabu sub county  found itself in the situation when  a mother of  four delivered to triplets  transforming the number of children instantly  into seven.

Lydiah Kwamboka had expected to give birth to one baby only for doctors to deliver her to  two girls and a boy  through a caesarean procedure.

Kwamboka  had a history of the multiple births after  she delivered twins in 2017 who were third born in the family.

Admitting   that  the ‘bundles of joy’  had blessed the family, she also reckoned that a herculean responsibility lay a head in providing for the children until they attained maturity.

She experienced difficulties in breast-feeding  the babies  and  the milk formula for them was unaffordable.

Kwamboka   passionately appealed to well-wishers   for assistance ,disclosing the family experienced financial challenges after her husband Abraham Omooria ,lost his job due to  covi19  pandemic.

Her father -in-law Joseph Nyakeri, lay bare the family financial resource’s vulnerability even the babies’ grandmother basked in the ‘blessed gifts’.
