Multiple births held with owe and joy in the local community were turning out to be a source of misery to most families.
The babies usually ranging from twins to quintuplets placed a heavy economic burden on the families most of whom were ill-prepared to adequately care for them.
One family from Memisi village,Borabu sub county found itself in the situation when a mother of four delivered to triplets transforming the number of children instantly into seven.
Lydiah Kwamboka had expected to give birth to one baby only for doctors to deliver her to two girls and a boy through a caesarean procedure.
Kwamboka had a history of the multiple births after she delivered twins in 2017 who were third born in the family.
Admitting that the ‘bundles of joy’ had blessed the family, she also reckoned that a herculean responsibility lay a head in providing for the children until they attained maturity.
She experienced difficulties in breast-feeding the babies and the milk formula for them was unaffordable.
Kwamboka passionately appealed to well-wishers for assistance ,disclosing the family experienced financial challenges after her husband Abraham Omooria ,lost his job due to covi19 pandemic.
Her father -in-law Joseph Nyakeri, lay bare the family financial resource’s vulnerability even the babies’ grandmother basked in the ‘blessed gifts’.
