Central Regional Commissioner, Wilfred Nyagangwa, has called for cooperation between national and county government officials in implementation of developmental projects for timely delivery. While assuring Nyandarua county residents that the anticipated 365KM of tarmac will be completed in time, Nyagangwa said that the administrators were in talks to ensure no hitches are encountered during implementation of the projects. Nyagangwa said that they were making close follow-ups in all the projects to ensure that they were built to the right standard and completed in time.
Works on the 106 kilometer Maili Kumi-Ndaragwa and Maili Kumi-Shamata roads were still lagging behind at 3%, with the contractor citing harassment from the Nyandarua County Revenue Department that was demanding levies for transportation of construction materials.
On this, the administrator said his team was in consultation with the county government to allow the contractor, China Railway number 10 Engineering Group Limited, in charge of constructing the roads in Ndaragwa to move their materials freely without the cess barrier restrictions. Nyagwanga noted that the completion of the roads in the constituency will ease access to the newly inaugurated Aberdare Sub county headquarters in Shamata, while opening up the region for development.
He added that the completion of road projects will see the agricultural rich county road network opened up with farmers earning more from their crops.
