Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia has challenged landowners in towns across the county to develop their parcel as the County administration embarks on a major facelifts of the towns.
The Governor has said that his administration was committed to support residents in the town who were seeking to develop their plots as a way of creating investments that would in return create employment.
He said that he was in talks with the Ministry of Land to fast-track issuance of titles deeds to those in town to motivate them to instill business and projects on the parcels. Kimemia who was speaking when he oversaw the ongoing construction of a bus park at Mawingu trading center in Kipipiri constituency noted that the facelift in the towns would see road infrastructure, lighting, establishing areas of expansion for schools, and other social amenities improved in the towns.
He said that they had so far spent cross to Sh.1billion county and donor funds in rehabilitating 15 towns with an extra 12 towns underway.
This, he said provide an environment conducive to business noting that many businesses were struggling because of inaccessibility, which, in return, reduced the amount of revenue collected by the county government.
Mawingu trading center business chairperson noted that installation of floodlights in the town would go a long way in enhancing security and offering extra hours to do business.
The governor also issued the elderly with gas cylinders in a move aimed at reducing the use of firewood to help attain the anticipated 10 percent forest cover across the country.
