Odinga, EU Ambassador Call For United, Intergrated Africa

In a recent meeting, opposition party leader has engaged Henriette Geiger, the European Union Ambassador to Kenya. The conversation centered around critical topics that are key to Africa’s future: necessary reforms within the African Union, boosting intra-Africa trade, climate action, and investing in education and infrastructure.

“Had a fruitful discussion with Henriette Geiger, on necessary AU reforms, boosting intra-Africa trade, climate action, and investing in education and infrastructure,” stated Raila on X.

According to opposition party leader, both leaders emphasized the importance of a united and integrated Africa, inspired by the success of the European Union noting that the two agreed on the need for a united and integrated Africa, inspired by the EU model.

“We agreed on the need for a united and integrated Africa, inspired by the EU model,” Raila said.

Previously, the opposition party leader held discussions with Germany’s Ambassador  to Kenya Amb.Sebastian Groth and UK High Commission to Kenya Neil Wigan.

According to Mr. Odinga the officials agreed on strong and stable Africa which they say befits the entire continent.

“We all agree: a strong and stable Africa benefits us all,” said Mr. Odinga.

The former Prime Minister of Kenya, who is aiming to succeed Moussa Faki Mahamat as the African Union Commission chairperson, has been hosting delegations from around the world in his office as part of his efforts to build a solid foundation for the highly competitive race.

Mr.Odinga is set to compete against Mahmoud Ali Youssouf Foreign Minister,Djibouti, Anil Kumarsingh Gayan Former Foreign Minister of Mauritius, and Richard Randriamandrato Former Foreign Minister of Madagascar in the race.

On 27th July, 2024 Raila signed off his AUC Chairmanship application documents.

The African Union (AU) was officially launched in July 2002 in Durban, South Africa,as a successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU, 1963-1999).

AU is guided by its vision of, “An Integrated, Prosperous and Peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in the global arena.”
