ODM calls for prosecution of Nkaissery over Teargassing.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) thorough its Director of Elections Junet Mohammed has called for the prosecution of Interior Cabinet Secretary Major Gen. (Rtd.) Joseph Nkaissery.

The movement termed Nkaissery actions of using force during their anti-IEBC protests on Monday in bid to stop the protests as barbaric.

“We received clearance from the High Court last week to hold our protests in a peaceful manner and that we did until the police lobbed teargas at us,” Junet stated. The Diroctor also said that the move by Nkaissery to use teargas and force was bad because he contraved the law

“Nkaissery’s methods of handling protests are barbaric and were only popular during the 80’s and 90’s. They are not applicable in the current political scenario.”

This was second CORD’s attempt to access IEBC offices on Monday with common agenda to force-office-quitting or removal of the current IEBC officials.   However, the police did not allow them to near the building, and to drive them away they fired teargas and used water cannons to disperse them

Similar kind of protests were staged in Kisumu and in Mombasa. Police was forced to use teargas to disperse the building crowds of protesters. All the coalition principals were however present during the anti-IEBC protests within anniversary towers yesterday
