ODM leader Raila Odinga has said Kakamega teachers’ union officials will not get direct nominations and must compete in primaries.

Raila met Knut and Kuppet officials from Kakamega at Bush Resort on Wednesday. They discussed a partnership between Cord and teachers. Sources said teachers asked Raila to shield them from the rigorous 2017 nominations. A official said, “We wanted the opposition chief to intervene because teachers do not have money to engage rivals in the nominations.”
Six Knut and Kuppet officials are eyeing MCA seats. They fear the seats have attracted many aspirants and they may lose nominations. But Raila said ODM wants every aspirant seeking the ticket to go through a fair nomination process.
