ODM ON SPOT OVER BONCHARI BY-ELECTION

ODM party aspirant and some members have cried foul over silence assumed by the party head office on  impending nominations for the Bonchari by-election.

The complainants  expressed fear  that   the nomination exercise  may not be conducted after all owing to non-response by the party  to date.

They further alleged some aspirants for the seat left vacant after the death of former area MP John Oroo Oyioka could be  hovering at the party headquarters to secure a direct nomination certificate.

David Ogega, an aspirant, challenged the party  leader or deputy  to ensure the  Orange House based secretariat to break its silence over the matter.

He observed it will be unfair for some  paid up aspirants to be kept waiting at the grass root while  parallel arrangements were in the offing  elsewhere.

Mekenye Otero, a member warned, the party risked to lose in the mini-poll if it resorted to direct nomination of a candidate adding involvement of the party members in the exercise will strengthen it.

Another member, Charles Mitika urged the area electorate to  pick  a candidate who will embrace inclusivity, wide consultations and support security.

ODM has since attracted three hopefuls in the by-election scheduled for May 18th 2021.
