The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced the release of four Cabinet Secretary (CS) nominees to serve the nation, emphasizing that this decision is made in good faith and should not be construed as a shift in political allegiance.
ODM clarified that it remains firmly committed to the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition, despite the appointment of its members to government positions.
“The party has released the four CS nominees in good faith to go and serve the nation. However, this doesn’t mean that ODM has joined the Kenya Kwanza government, NO, we firmly remain in AZIMIO LA UMOJA ONE KENYA COALITION,” noted ODM party.

In a statement released on 31st July 2024, ODM reiterated its unwavering dedication to the principles and objectives of the Azimio La Umoja coalition.
The party stressed that the release of the nominees is a move intended to foster national unity and contribute positively to the country’s governance, rather than a sign of political realignment.
ODM’s leadership underscored that this decision aligns with the party’s broader vision of national development and inclusivity. They assured their supporters that the party’s core values and political affiliations remain unchanged.
“We reiterate that there is no agreement of anynature between ODM and Kenya Kwanza.ODM therefore remains a member of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition and will continue to play its opposition role alongside other parties to push for accountability, transparency and equity in governance and public affairs,” the statement read in part.
However the party’s Resolutions of the Central Management Commitee has proposed to the azimio parliamentary group that Hon.Junet Mohammed take up the minority leader position vacated by Hon. Opiyo Wandayi,Hon. Millie Odhiambo take the role of the minority whip.
Similar will see Hon. Caleb Amisi who will take up the role of chair PAC following Wandayi’s resignation and Hon.Oundo will serve as the vice chair PIC.
ODM leaders highlighted that their participation in the government is expected to enhance the delivery of essential services and promote the welfare of all Kenyans.
The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition, a political alliance formed to champion unity and development, continues to be a significant force in the country’s political landscape.
