ODPP Hosts Somali Delegation To Enhance Legal Training, Prosecution Collaboration

The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (ODPP) hosted a delegation from the Somali Judicial Training Institute who visited the Prosecution Training Institute (PTI).

The Prosecution Training Institute (PTI), is a department within the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) which was established in 2019.

Its primary role is to enhance institutional capacity and improve the quality of public prosecutions through comprehensive training programs

According to ODPP the visitation aimed at learning about legal training, prosecution processes, and the criminal justice system.

“The ODPP today hosted a delegation from the Somali Judicial Training Institute who visited the Prosecution Training Institute to learn about legal training, prosecution processes, and the criminal justice system,” stated the ODPP.

Mr. Alloys Kemo, Deputy Director in Charge of the PTI, shared the institute’s vision of becoming a top training and resource center for prosecutors and the criminal justice system in Kenya and the region.

He informed the delegate that PTI is interested in establishing an exchange program and urged Somalia to consider PTI for training its prosecutors and other officials in the criminal justice system.

He took the delegate through ODPP’s mandate and functions, as well as the DPP strategic agenda.

He went on to explain to the delegate that PTI is not only open to establishing an exchange program but is also enthusiastic about the opportunity.

Mr.Alloys highlighted the potential benefits for Somalia, emphasizing that PTI could provide high-quality training for its prosecutors and other criminal justice officials, thereby enhancing their skills and capabilities.

He encouraged the delegate to seriously consider PTI for these training programs, noting the institution’s expertise and track record in this

The collaboration is poised to enhance the skills of prosecutors and criminal justice officials, fostering a more robust justice system in both nations.
