Despite getting good marks in her KCPE exams, Linnet Muthoni’s hope of becoming a surgeon seemed lost after her parents were unable to pay for her secondary education. Muthoni tried to look for a job so that she can raise the needed school fees without avail, and the only thing she thought of was taking her life .It is at this moment a report was given to police who indeed decided to help the young lady, the officers at Maragua police station had to contribute money to buy her school uniforms, shoes and shopping. The area MCA Charles Mwangi Ng’ang’a on his side said he will pay Muthoni’s full school fees for four years. The young lady was taken to Kiangunyi girls in the presence of police officers and MCA where she was warmly welcomed in the school, given books a sign that she should get ready to learn.
According to Ichagaki MCA, Maragua has been a den of illegal brews and this has been the main cause why young people don’t continue with their education adding that its time to fight illicit brew so that young people can start embracing education. Muthoni vowed to put more effort in education so that she may be able to help other needy persons in the society .According to Maragua assistant county commissioner Joshua Okello 90% of those who sat for KCPE exams has already enrolled in different secondary schools.
