Officials forced to airlift exam papers after river breaks its banks

Students in Wikithuki Day School, Mwingi Central district in Kitui County were in the risk of missing exams yesterday following heavy rains.

The vehicle transporting the exams to the school could not cross Tyaa river which had broken its banks.

Alternative road proofing too long, and again the risk of another river, Karura river denying them access to the schools forced the heads of the county to hire a chopper.

The exam papers were airlifted to the school and exam process continued normally.

The same repeated may be repeated today after past history indicated that the river has a tendency of overflowing for nearly a week.
