Why Ole Ntimama’s Burial Has Been Postponed

Former Cabinet Minister and veteran politician William Ole Ntimama will not be buried on September 10 as earlier scheduled.

The committee handling the burial arrangements on Sunday announced that the late Ole Ntimama will be laid to rest on September 14.

According to the family, the burial was pushed forward to allow friends and relatives living abroad to attend the funeral.

“At first, the family chose September 10 as the date of burial but the committee wanted to give our hero a decent sendoff that all his friends in Kenya, Tanzania and even the United States could attend. That is why we pushed the date by four days,” the burial committee Chairman Mr Hassan Ole Kamwaro said.

A requiem mass for the late Maasailand political kingpin is expected to be held at the All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi, on September 13.

Mr Kamwaro, who was Ntimama’s close friend and cousin, revealed that the exact burial site would be identified by the family as the late Ntimama’s wishes were already documented.

The committee Chairman further expressed that preparations for the burial were taking place both in Narok and Nairobi. The Maasai community has donated 15 bulls and several sheep and goats to be slaughtered during the burial.

The national government, Samburu, Kajiado and Laikipia Counties have also pledged their support for the funeral budget.Kamwaro also confirmed that President Uhuru Kenyatta would attend the funeral.

Ntimama passed away on Thursday night at his home in Narok County and according to the family, he died of natural causes.
