Kenya’s athletics trials for the Rio Olympic Games will take place at Eldoret’s Kipchoge Keino Stadium on June 14 and 15, with Team Kenya also setting up their pre-Olympic training camp in the North Rift region.This is a departure from tradition as the Olympics trials and pre-season training have been taking place in Nairobi for the past years.
The National Olympic Committee of Kenya(NOCK’s) on Tuesday, April 26, said they have reached the final decision to concentrate their pre-Olympics preparations in the counties of Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo-Marakwet.NOCK’s executives met Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and his Elgeyo-Marakwet counterpart Alex Tolgos and the two governors pledged their support for Team Kenya with finances and other material support.
