Liverpool striker Divock Origi has claimed that he still has a chance of featuring for the Reds this season again.

The 21-year-old suffered ankle ligament damage in last month’s Mersey side derby against Everton and was initially expected to be out for six weeks, all but ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Though there is only 11 days until the end of the Premier League season, Origi could feature again in the Europa League final should Liverpool overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit when they host Villarreal on Thursday night. When asked if he could play again for his club this term, Origi told the club website:

His goal is to come back as soon as possible and I just want to go back on the pitch. I think it’s possible, but you never know.

Origi had become Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice striker before the injury, scoring five goals in five matches.
