Bodaboda operators from Juja are up in arms with motorcycle dealers over disappearance of over 30 motorcycles in a span of 3 months. The angry operators spoke after they were denied entry in the dealer’s shop Mogo Kenya Ltd at Ruiru where they had gone to check whether any efforts to track them had bone fruits. They accused the company of negligence and colluding with the criminals alleging that the motorcycles they acquire on higher purchase basis are stolen once they finish paying. “This is a well planned and executed conspiracy where once we finish paying for the motorcycles, they disappear without a trace as the company take us in circles when we report”. Said Sam Kibathi who is their chairman. Kibathi however said they have reported the matter to Juja police station and the OCPD Philles Muthoni has promised to bring the culprits to book soon as investigations are underway. John Kamau who is the latest victim said the suspects seem to be part of a wider Network of criminals working in cahoot with the motorcycle shop dealers and are targeting mainly the popular TVS and Boxer motorcycles brands that sell quickly in the black market. The operators now want the government to launch investigations on the dealer companies warning those involved that their days are being numbered. “We will not hesitate to take the law on our own hands when we get these thieves because they are depriving us our only source of livelihood”. Said Kamau. Our efforts to reach out the company management for clarification didn’t bare fruit as the manager kept us waiting for many ours.
