OVER 7000 EXAM CANDIDATES IN RUIRU TO GET FREE MEALS

Candidates sitting 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams in the populous Ruiru Constituency in Kiambu County will enjoy free lunch and bottled water.

In the constituency, over 10,000 candidates will be sitting the exams that are set to kick off today

Speaking when he handed over a cheque of Sh 2 million to Food 4 Education, a non-profit organization that offers subsidized nutritious meals to primary school children to improve nutrition, end classroom hunger, improve school attendance and performance, Ruiru MP Simon King’ara revealed he moved to support the learners after financially-hit parents approached him.

King’ara said that most parents from the constituency are yet to heal from the harsh effects of Covid-19, global warming and resultant drought that has crippled their livelihoods.

The MP said his office has made the requisite arrangements to have the food prepared by caterers from the constituency and delivered to all the public schools during the exam period.

His sentiments were echoed by Njeri Macharia, an officer from Food 4 Education who revealed that the organization had made better arrangements to ensure all candidates sitting exams in Ruiru are well fed.

Meanwhile, King’ara called on the task force mandated to oversee the practicability and implementation of CBC to fast-track the release of their findings to enable parents prepare adequately ahead of return to school in January.

The MP at the same time revealed that parliamentarians are working around the clock to ensure operation of NG-CDF is constitutionally allowed to continue with grass root developments such as building of classrooms, police stations, issuance of bursaries among other activities.
