Parents To Blame for Their Children’s Bad Behaviors
A section of Migori Parents have been blamed for the failure to teach and give proper etiquette to their children
During a sensitization forum on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) organized by local NGO-Micontrap in Kuria parents were blamed for lack of guidance to their young ones
Micontrap Official Ms. Ruth Robi said that lack of proper guidance from guardians was the reason the Kuria region was still recording high cases of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), early teenage pregnancy and school dropouts.
He claimed that parents had focused their energy on work and other income generating activities, making no time for their children.
Robi also urged the guardians to provide for their children especially girls to deter them from getting the same from men who are out to spoil their bright future.
On the issue of FGM Robi said that due to negligence and lack of time for their children some girls undergo the cut without the knowledge of their parents.
He said that major issues affecting the Kuria girls can be avoided if parents can take the time to talk and nurture their young ones.
