The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has taken steps to strengthen collaboration with the National Assembly as it seeks to enhance its operational capacity and strategic influence in regional trade.
A consultative meeting was held at Parliament Buildings which was attended by the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) senior management team and the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula, who was later joined by the Managing Director William Ruto during a courtesy visit aimed at aligning the Authority’s priorities with legislative support.
“Our discussions focused on key strategic areas that require the intervention of the National Assembly to enable KPA to effectively discharge its mandate,” said Wetangula.
He noted that the Authority remains at the heart of Kenya’s trade ecosystem, acting as both an enabler and a gateway for international commerce.
“KPA plays a critical role in facilitating international and regional trade by ensuring the smooth movement of goods and services through its ports,” continued Wetangula.
In addition to its domestic relevance, the Authority’s regional impact was also emphasized.
“KPA serves as a vital hub, linking Kenya with the rest of the world and neighboring countries, thereby promoting economic cooperation and regional integration,” continued Wetangula.
He concluded by assuring the KPA delegation of sustained parliamentary support to ensure the Authority is fully equipped to meet its goals.
The meeting reflects a growing recognition of the need for coordinated efforts between institutions to drive national development, trade facilitation, and regional connectivity.
