The National Assembly has approved Mr. Abdi Ahmed Mohamud, MBS, to be appointed as the Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
Mr. Abdi Mohamud possesses more than 19 years of experience within the anti-corruption agency, where he has been responsible for managing the investigation of prominent corruption cases in the nation.
His name was submitted to the National Assembly on 25th November 2024 for consideration in the position of the Secretary/CEO of EACC.
According to the National Assembly, Mr. Abdi Mohamud was approved to be the next Chief Executive Officer of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission on December 3rd, 2024.
“That, taking into consideration the findings of the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs in its Report on the vetting of a nominee for appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, laid on the Table of the House on Tuesday 3rd December 2024, and pursuant to Article 250(12) of the Constitution and section 16(1) of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Act, Cap 7H, as reads together with sections 3 and 8 of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, Cap 7F, this House approves Mr. Abdi Ahmed Mohamud, MBS, for appointment as the Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission,” National Assembly stated on X.
Abdi Mohamud will take over the leadership of EACC from Twalib Mbarak whose tenure comes to an end in January 2025.
