In a significant step toward enhancing transparency and efficiency in government operations, the Presidential Directives Management Information Systems (PDMIS) and Foreign Travel Information Management Systems (FoTIMS) were officially launched today at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
In his keynote address, Deputy President H.E. Rigathi Gachagua reaffirmed the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for improved governance.
“PDMIS plays a big role in dignifying our President William Ruto because it helps in tracking Directives issued and ensures expeditious implementation to the letter,” stated DP Gachagua.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Mr. Felix Koskei, the Deputy Chief of Staff Eliud Owalo emphasized the pivotal role of these new systems in advancing accountability and effective governance.
“PDMIS, which manages and tracks Presidential Directives and FoTIMS, which streamlines the process of foreign travel clearance, are pivotal in advancing accountability,” stated Deputy Chief of Staff Eliud Owalo.
The Presidential Directives Management Information System (PDMIS) is designed to manage and track Presidential Directives, ensuring that all government actions are aligned with the President’s vision and objectives.
“These systems will support more informed decision-making, efficient resource allocation, and effective monitoring,” added Owalo.
On the other hand, the Foreign Travel Information Management System (FoTIMS) is aimed at streamlining the process of foreign travel clearance for government officials.
“FOTIMS enhances application, processing and approval of foreign travel for public servants. Importantly, it ensures prudent use of public resources and accountability for expenses incurred during the travels,” stated the DP.
The launch event was attended by several high-ranking government officials, including Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u; Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Mr. Justin Muturi; Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and MSME Development, Mr. Wycliffe Oparanya; Cabinet Secretary for East African Community, Ms. Beatrice Askul; and Attorney General, Ms. Dorcas Oduor.
The event also saw the presence of various Principal Secretaries and CEOs of Parastatals, all of whom underscored the importance of these new systems in fostering a culture of accountability and service delivery.
The successful launch of PDMIS and FoTIMS marks a crucial step in the government’s ongoing efforts to harness digital solutions for effective governance.
As these systems are rolled out across various ministries and departments, they are expected to significantly improve coordination, transparency, and accountability, ultimately leading to better service delivery to the Kenyan people.
The government remains committed to embracing innovative solutions that drive development and ensure that every action taken is in the best interest of the citizens.
