POLICE ARREST MCA OVER SPEAKER’S IMPEACHMENT

Kisii county assembly  MCA’s attempt to impeach speaker David Kombo has taken a different dimension after police arrested a nominated  Ward Representative.

Eric Changanya was  picked from his colleagues by detectives  and apprehended  after a media briefing at a resort in the outskirts of the town.

He was whisked to Kisii county criminal investigations  head office to record a statement with the MCAs following them in hot pursuit.

Changanya had   sensationally   claimed in the  press conference that  his life was in danger  for police and  some county enforcement  officers were    trailing  him.

Temporary  speaker, Samuel Onuko read a statement  in which they condemned the unfolding  occurrences at  the county assembly.

According to the MCAs,the speakers’ impeachment process was unstoppable and that a special committee had been appointed to  spearhead it.

They accused area  police of taking sides in the dispute to the extent   of   keeping  the county assembly mace.

Interior ministry CS Fred Matiang’i was petitioned  to intervene even as the MCAs insisted the county  reportedly on recess   was ,infact,on.

Equally the MCAs challenged governor James Ongwae to declare his stand  and  move with speed  to arbitrate on the matter.

They petitioned  the governor  to separate  his office from the county assembly as one way of   strengthening security.

Deputy  speaker,Davis Onuso, alleged it was difficult to control entry of visitors into the county assembly, hence the  possibility of    goons lurking in the  compound to   cause mayhem was real.
