In reaction to a troubling wave of assaults and thefts aimed at unsuspecting members of the public along Thika Highway on March 11, 2025, law enforcement officials have initiated a comprehensive operation to identify and prosecute the individuals responsible for these criminal activities, with the goal of restoring public safety.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has confirmed the arrest of John Junior Oginga, who was found armed with a knife during the attack on a victim from whom he stole an Oppo A77S mobile phone valued at Sh28,000.
Oginga was taken into custody along Thika Highway and subsequently transported to Pangani Police Station.
“Jared Nyanza, Darlin Lande, Daniel Okombe, Mike Robert, Elvis Otieno, Reagan Omondi and Mathenge Gachiri who are among a group of ten who robbed members of the public of their phones and other valuables in Mathare Area 4 were arrested. The suspects were escorted to Muthaiga Police Station,” the DCI said on X.
Additionally, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations reported the recovery of seven brand-new shirts, which are suspected to be stolen goods.
The DCI also noted that all individuals apprehended were processed and brought before the court.
In the meantime, law enforcement officials have escalated their efforts to apprehend more suspects connected to these criminal activities.
