Police Nab Armed Suspect, Drug Peddler in Rachuonyo North

In a bold operation spurred by community vigilance, detectives from Rachuonyo North, in collaboration with officers from Kendubay Police Station, apprehended a robbery suspect and marijuana peddler in South Kanyaluo.

Acting on a tip-off from concerned neighbors, the law enforcement team raided the home of 34-year-old Barnabas Okello, leading to the recovery of several incriminating items.

Among the seized items were a loaded firearm with four rounds, police gear, camouflage clothing, balaclavas, and multiple rolls of marijuana.

“Acting on a tip-off from concerned neighbours that one of their own was peddling Marijuana and had occasionally been spotted brandishing what appeared to be a gun, detectives from Rachuonyo North have nabbed the suspect, and from him recovered a firearm loaded with four rounds, police gear and several rolls of bhang,” stated the DCI.

 The suspect had reportedly been seen brandishing a gun on several occasions, raising alarm among residents.

The operation underscores the critical role of public cooperation in enhancing neighborhood safety.

“We thank the vigilant members of the public who are contributing significantly to the safety and security of their neighbourhoods by sharing credible information, and assure our fellow citizens that we stand on guard 24/7 to ensure that you enjoy your Christmas and New Year holidays bila mushkili,” added the DCI.

The  arrest highlights the importance of community-police collaboration in maintaining law and order.
