A 42-Year-Old man was found trafficking 146kg of bhang along the Kisii-Migori highway and was arrested, after a hot pursuit by Kisii law enforcers.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Collins Otieno was cornered after a get-away turned wrong and found in custody of six sacks of bhang. In his possession was also a reflective motor vehicle number plate with the number KDL 841X.
Police officers intercepted a Toyota Land Cruiser, KDG 508E, at Iyabe- Bomokora area after mounting roadblocks due to receiving wind of the suspects’ illicit trade business. The vehicle was ferrying the illegal narcotics alongside two traffickers.
The move prompted to a hot police chase, but not for long as the Prado got stuck in a ditch to the disappointment of the determined occupants. Even so, the driver managed to scamper into nearby thickets and holed up.
The suspect was escorted to Suneka Police Station for further processing, while the seized narcotics and the motor vehicle were detained at Kisii Central Police Station as exhibits.
The pursuit of the escapee is ongoing.
This is one of the many achievements of law enforcement in their efforts to fight and curb drug trafficking and distribution in the country.
