Police Uniforms will be locally made, Matiang’i says.

The government has reiterated that the new police uniforms will be procured and made locally in line with the police reforms that were launched in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta on 13th September 2018.

Speaking at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i said the ta the government will not succumb to any pressure from any individual or organisation to import the material or ready made uniforms. “Buy Kenya, Build Kenya. We have people who can work here in Kenya. We as the government need to provide employment to our people and importing such things is against it.” he said. The CS added that the permanent Secretary in the Interior Ministry, Eng. Karanja Kibicho was recently on tour to inspect the progress of the new uniforms and the report he brought back was positive.

The CS spoke while meeting the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Caucus on the transport sector reforms.
