Politicians to receive Covid 19 jab in second phase
With more than twenty thousand residents of Machakos county having received the Covid 19 jab, Machakos County health team has rolled out a mid-year pandemic mitigation plan in combating Covid 19 amid fears of a possible fourth wave that can cause the scare to hold the country at ransom yet again.

Speaking during a stakeholders meeting that brought together various departments of health Machakos county, Health CEC Dr. Ancient Kituku underscored the need to continuously wear face masks, sanitize and wash hands as the team continues to roll out the second dose of the vaccine.

Comparatively, with the ongoing wave in Nyanza, Western counties and their neighbors, speculation is rife for another wave, compelling health officials in the county to rise to the occasion and caution the community to be weary and observe the Covid 19 health protocols.

To achieve a good percentage of immunity in the country, the CEC urged the stakeholders and the international community to work hand-in-hand in order to deliver the desired deliverables insisting that Kenya having a good vaccine storage system, is a welcome message that motivates other nations globally to channel the vaccine to Kenya.
Machakos County is targeting frontline health workers, teachers, the elderly and politicians in the second roll-out vaccination program.

Representatives from the religious team echoed Kituku’s sentiments and requested meetings to be held at least quarterly so as to disseminate the covid 19 precautionary measures to masses within a short period.
