President William Ruto, speaking at the opening of the Central Bank of Kenya Police Housing Complex in Industrial Area, Nairobi, announced that 20 percent of the Affordable Housing Programme units will be reserved for members of the Kenya Defence Forces, the National Police Service, the National Youth Service, and the Kenya Prisons Service.

“We will reserve 20 per cent of our housing units under the Affordable Housing Programme for members of the Kenya Defence Forces, the National Police Service, the National Youth Service and the Kenya Prisons Service,” President Ruto announced.

The newly inaugurated Central Bank of Kenya Police Housing Complex, comprising 200 two-bedroom and 10 three-bedroom fully-furnished apartments, stands as a testament to this commitment.

President Ruto highlighted the importance of ensuring that officers assigned to critical institutions like the Central Bank of Kenya have access to quality housing.

In addition to the housing allocation, the President unveiled plans to offer single-digit interest rate credit facilities, as low as 3 per cent per annum, to enable members of the disciplined forces to become homeowners.

“These disciplined officers will benefit from single-digit interest rate credit facilities as low as 3 per cent a year to grow the number of home-owners,” said President Ruto.

This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden often faced by these officers in securing housing, thereby fostering a more stable and motivated workforce.

The move is expected to significantly increase homeownership rates among the disciplined forces, contributing to their overall well-being and morale.
